There are plenty of phone-compatible VR headsets out there. The market is so crowded that it can be difficult to tell the great headsets from the truly awful ones. That’s where our Bnext VR headset review comes in – to take an objective look at this headset and determine whether it’s worth your time. We’ll accomplish this by looking at the headset’s features, how it works, and even the reviews of other users.

Bnext’s VR headset touts itself as a next-generation headset, one that leverages the power of your mobile phone in order to give you the best possible VR experience. In reality, you’re looking at another iteration of Google Cardboard, one that has a fair number of available apps and that really shines when it comes to ease of use. In our Bnext VR headset review, we found that the single most striking feature was how comfortable the headset was. While it might not have a revolutionary design, it’s far easier to wear for a significant amount of time than most similar products.
Pros and Cons
The Good
The Bad
Bnext VR Headset: Design & Requirements
If you’ve ever seen one of the several dozen Google Cardboard-esque headsets on the market today, you’ll be very familiar with the Bnext VR. It didn’t take much for us to get comfortable with this headset during our Bnext VR headset review largely because we’ve worn so many headsets that are similar. Like most sets at this price point, you’re mostly looking at a large plastic shell that will house your phone in front of you.
The Bnext headset does, however, fit a surprisingly large number of phones. It works with every iPhone back to the iPhone 5, which is almost unheard of at this point. It also works with a wide variety of Android models, and even works with phones from less-known vendors like Huawei. This means that you’ll almost certainly be able to use the VR headset as long as your phone was made in the last four or five years.
Bnext VR Headset: Controls & Display
Unfortunately, our headset review was hampered by the lack of external controls for this headset. There is no attached controller, though one could theoretically make use of a third-party Bluetooth controller for some games. There’s not even a button, which will greatly shorten the list of apps that you can use. The headset only makes use of motion controls, so be prepared to play games that require you to twist and dip your phone in order to move.
The display for this headset is entirely dependent on your phone. It should be noted, though, that it’s possible to see around your phone if you’re using something as small as an iPhone 5. The headset works best if you have a newer phone, so a late-model Galaxy Note, Pixel, or iPhone will likely be ideal for those who need top-tier resolution.
Bnext VR Headset: Setup
We found the set-up process for our VR headset review to be fairly easy. Like most headsets of this type, getting the hardware to work is the easy bit. You simply open up the latch on the front of the headset and slide your phone in – no connections or wires at all. Working with the physical parts of the headset will continue to be easy – even adjusting the lenses involves simply pushing them where you want to go.
The software is a little harder to use. You’ll want to find apps that make use of motion controls only, so pay attention to what you see in the app descriptions. All of your downloading and activation will need to be done before you put the phone into the headset, unfortunately – the lack of buttons makes it impossible to tap on the screen. Software problems will largely be a function of the individual apps, though, so you won’t have to do any trouble-shooting specifically for the headset.
Bnext VR Headset: User Experience
This VR headset is fairly popular, and many users have strong opinions about the device. We’ve looked at a handful of representative reviews, in order to give you an idea of what users think of this headset. For example, one user found the headset very easy to use. This user specifically liked the fact that you can charge your phone while wearing the headset, something that’s not always easy to do with other similar devices.
Another user didn’t like the number of apps available for the device in the App Store. This user found it easier to find apps for Android, and had a much better experience with that platform. A third user really didn’t like the lack of buttons on the headset. This user found it impossible to find apps that would work with the headset.
Bottom Line
What’s our verdict? In short, the Bnext VR headset is cheap and easy to use – but that’s about it. The VR experience you get won’t wow you, and you’ll find yourself spending more time searching for good apps than playing with this headset. Unfortunately, this headset just doesn’t have what it takes to stand out from the crowd.
This is just our opinion, though – yours might be different. As you can tell from the user reviews, views are definitely mixed when it comes to this device. If you have experience with this headset or questions about how it works, get in touch with us today.
