What Is Virtual Reality?
To really understand Star Wars VR, you must get an understanding of what virtual reality is. Virtual reality, also called VR, is an experience that is computer generated. Also, that takes place in a simulated environment. It is built around mainly audio and visual feedback. Though bigger experiences can include larger types of sensory feedback. Sometimes the rendered environment can be similar to the real world. Or it can be fantastical, like a video game or movie.
Most VR systems available to the public use virtual reality headsets. Or multi-projected environments sometimes in conjunction with props. Anyone who wears the headset is able to “look around” at the rendered artificial world. Move within it, and interact with it. This headset is often created by a small screen in front of the eyes. It can also be made from several large screens placed in front of each other.
VR includes the transmission of sensations, like a vibration, to a handheld controller.
This tactical feedback is also called forced feedback in video gaming and military training. This feedback helps with the physical sensations of being immersed in a world. It allows you to know the limits. As an example, we could say that via the headset you are in a room. Should you try to walk through the door. But walk into something that is near your feet. The vibration of the controller will alert you to look around.
Virtual reality takes a whole new approach to gaming. You are being able actually to immerse yourself into the game. You're able to see the environment fully. Thanks to VR, you no longer suffer from blind spots. You are able to interact with the environment and tools around you in a way that hasn't been viable before. With virtual reality, actually becoming the hero of your favorite stories is within your reach.
